About The Artists
Hawthorn, created by Heather Scott and Taylor Holland, “digs into its folk roots while also reminding us that tradition is about tending to the flame, not the ashes” (NPR). The Boston-based group is quickly gaining national recognition - “When they harmonize, the edges of their voices bleed together like watercolors on paper” (WBUR). Hawthorn was nominated for the 2019 and 2020 Boston Music Awards as well as the 2019 New England Music Awards. Notable appearances include Harpoon Fest, The Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, Bust Out Boston, House of Blues Boston, and the International Herbal Symposium. Hawthorn’s newest LP Maggie Willow, hailed as “a ghostly brilliant record” (Sound of Boston) and named to both WBUR and Sound of Boston’s top albums of 2019, is available everywhere.
Naomi Westwater (she/they) is a multimedia artist from Massachusetts. Their work combines music and music production with creative writing, visual art, intuition, and spirituality. Naomi is an Americana/Roots musician and dabbles in electronic music and production. She holds a Master of Music in Contemporary Performance and Production from Berklee College of Music. Naomi is a 2020 617Sessions Artist, a 2020 Boston Opportunity Fund recipient, a 2019 Iguana Music Fund grant recipient, a 2019 Berklee College of Music Post Master’s Graduate Fellow, and was nominated for a 2020 Boston Music Award. Naomi has performed at The Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Do617’s Bust Out Boston at Brighton Music Hall, Club Passim, Sofar Sounds, and Coast Fest on Cape Cod. Like a rose with many petals, Naomi’s music is layered, striking, and tender. They have been featured in WBUR’s The Artery, Vanyaland, WGBH, Under The Radar, Allston Pudding, and The Bluegrass Situation.
Charlottesville-grown songwriter, Nan Macmillan, pushes at the borders of Americana, folk and indie rock with a timeless ease. She studied music and poetry writing in her younger years, and went on to get her masters in performance and production at Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain. Macmillan's debut EP "August and the in Between" was released in April 2020, and features producer and friend Jay Foote, Anthony LaMarca (of The War on Drugs), and Tyler Chester (producer for the Grammy-nominated Madison Cunningham). Her songs have been featured by NPR Music, Americana Highways, and Ear To The Ground Music. Nan currently resides in Brooklyn, where she is working on her upcoming full-length album. She plays from the heart, and her songs serve as reminders to listen, to feel, and express with vivid color.
